I recommend after the installation of Ubuntu 9.04 to follow these instructions. By the way, I don’t upgrade my Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04. I am using a different hard drive with Ubuntu 9.04 on it. Never touch a running system. About half a year ago, I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 8.10. It was a mistake. Two steps forward, but one important step backwards. And what was the step backwards? I wasn’t able to play a dvd anymore without getting x-runs. And I don’t know how to fix this. So my approach is to use separate hard drives with different operating systems (Win XP, Ubuntu 8.10, Ubuntu 9.04). Every system has advantages and disadvantages. At the moment, I still mainly use Ubuntu 8.10.
